Competios → One night

One night

Done by closing time.

A club night, a pub league, a school tournament: one evening, one winner, and nobody arguing about the bracket at the bar. Create the competition on Competios before the night; from there the sheet keeps score.

Friends around a table mid board game, one of them celebrating a turn.

How a night runs

Four steps from create to champion.

01

You create the event

Open Create competition, name the event, add a tournament and set the entry offer. Prefer a hand-held first night? Email us and we will walk through it with you.

02

Round one pairs itself

The bracket generates from the entrant list. Where the numbers do not divide, a bye is recorded honestly rather than invented, and it is visible on the public page as a bye.

03

You type the result in

Each result is entered as the match ends — by you, or by us beside you. The next round pairs itself; a round-robin’s points table recalculates itself.

04

The champion is on the page

The final result completes the competition and the champion appears on the public page, which anybody can open without an account.

When something goes wrong

Mistakes are fixable, not fatal.

A real evening produces a wrong score, a player who leaves early, and a phone with one bar. The engine was built for all three.

Somebody enters the wrong score. The result is not overwritten. It is voided or replayed as a recorded adjudication with a reason, kept beside the original.
A player does not show. A forfeit is a recorded act too, so the bracket advances honestly and the record says why.
The connection drops mid-submit. Every write carries an idempotency key, so submitting the same result twice records it once.
Two of you are entering results. Writes are version-fenced: the stale one is rejected instead of silently overwriting the other.

The bye is recorded, not invented

A sample bracket, not a live one. It is the shape a competition’s public page takes: every fixture, every result, and a bye that was recorded rather than invented.

The way in

The next club night could be the pilot.

We are looking for organisers running a real evening with real people. If that is you, tell us what you run.

Participants register on the public event page once you publish. Prefer a hand-held first night? Email us with the date, format and likely entrant count.

Start on Competios

The create form is the organiser front door. Published events still list Register for entrants at /events.

Create competition

Opens the Competios create form on this site.
