How it works
The words Competios uses.
Not a funnel — a vocabulary. If you recognised yourself in none of the doors, this is the page that answers whether your format fits, and what is honestly still missing.
The model
Seven words, and what each one really means.
Competition
The whole thing with a name: one cup, one league, one night. It owns its entrants, its format and its public page.
Stage
A phase inside a competition — a bracket round, or the single round of a round-robin. Today a competition has one format, and stages live inside it.
Contest
One match between two sides, with a scheduled time, a result and a state. A bye is a contest too, recorded as one rather than pretended away.
Enrolment
How an entrant gets in. Today the organiser enrols each entrant; participants cannot sign themselves up anywhere in the product.
Standings
The table computed from completed results — played, wins, draws, losses, points, tie-broken head to head, then by wins.
Adjudication
The recorded correction of a contest: void, replay or forfeit, with a reason. Results are immutable, so this is how a mistake gets fixed without erasing what happened.
Qualification
How an entrant earns a place. It exists today in the creator-programme application path; qualifying from a league table into a playoff does not exist yet.

What the engine can run right now.
Four formats ship. Each is self-contained: one competition runs one of them, and no format hands off into another yet.
- Fixed knockout — a clean power-of-two bracket.
- Knockout with byes — for entrant counts that do not divide, with each bye recorded rather than invented.
- Round-robin — one complete round, every entrant against every other, points table with head-to-head tie-break.
- Preferans, nine deals — a card format with its own scoring.
And what is not there
- No automated season or multi-stage ladder yet: each Event runs one format at a time.
- Pair and team roster checks still need every member’s signed-in account id.
- No stage hand-off: a round-robin cannot feed a knockout playoff.
- No game integration or leaderboard API: that is being built with one studio first.
- No automated billing or metering: founding subscriptions and any separate work are agreed with a person and invoiced manually.
